The Origins Of The VCA Animal Hospital.
The company was founded in 1986 to intentionally dominate the healthcare industry for companion animals. VCA aimed to do this by acquiring small clinics and operating them under its corporate umbrella, seeking to cobble a nationwide network of veterinary hospitals whose financial, managerial, and administrative needs were governed by a single entity operating under a single brand.
The three founders of VCA were Robert Antin, Arthur Antin and Neil Tauber. Tauber's talent was relied upon heavily to carry out their pre-conceived acquisition and eventual pet hospitals domination campaign. This all started with the 1987 purchase of the Los Angeles veterinary practice belonging to Richard Gebhart and Pat Sevedge.
This acquisition became VCA West Los Angeles, the company's flagship unit. Two years later their company consisted of six VCA Hospitals, a slow beginning for a company destined for national domination.
In 1991, the company had an IPO that fueled a rapid expansion drive, growing by one VCA hospital at a time into a chain of more than two dozen hospitals by the end of 1993. As the company built its network of vca pet hospitals, it simultaneously built a network of veterinary diagnostic laboratories to serve the nation's veterinarians.
The clinical laboratory services arm of VCA developed into Antech Diagnostics. Through Antech Diagnostics, the company provided consulting services used by veterinarians in the detection, diagnosis, evaluation, monitoring, treatment, and prevention of diseases and other conditions affecting animals.
Since its IPO in 1991, the company has never looked back and is considered to be today's largest provider of routine and emergency veterinary services nationwide.
Their promise to you as a first time visitor is a FREE health exam for your pet. They also promise to always make time for you and pledge to go above and beyond your expectations.
The nationwide network VCA Veterinary Hospitals is there to provide the client with convenience, friendly pet care and access to over 200 board-certified specialists. They are there to give your pet the very best medical care, and to provide a full range of general medical and surgical services. VCA is worth looking into.
